Once again there was disappointing news recently for this who hoped that certain New Balance shoes would help the wearer tone lower body muscles. It turns out that the New Balance TrueBalance and Rock&Tone shoes did not deliver as promised. A class action suit was filed and new balance was forced to cough up $2.3 million in respect of misleading advertising claims.

The New Balance debacle is unfortunately part of a larger unraveling of the toning shoes industry over the past few years. Believe it or not, in the first four months of 2010 alone misled shoppers spent no less than $252 million on so called toning shoes. New Balance was not acting alone in this scan - both Sketchers and Reebok were also complicit and have been forced to pay damages to customers.

There is simply no escaping a basic truth: There is no substitute for good old exercise to stay fit and toned. Don't look to New Balance for salvation, hit the road, take out the bike or stop by the gym.
